October 9, 16, 23 - Design Workshop

Topic: Three-Part Design Workshop

Description: Join this comprehensive three-part design workshop focused on the importance of pre-planning in painting. Learn valuable design techniques to improve your artwork, prevent mistakes, and find ways to correct them. This workshop is ideal for artists of all levels, and the principles can be applied to any style of painting.

Cost: $150 + $50 lab fee (includes 8 mats, 8 mat covers, rice paper, glue, handout, and liquid watercolors for darks).

Materials: Bring an old brush for the first two days, a way to protect your palette from glue, your paint, a pencil, and full sheets of Arches paper (140# recommended). On the last day, regular materials will be used.

Note: If you wish to provide your own materials, you can skip the lab fee. Contact the artist if these dates don’t work for you.


October 30 - Calm Sea Scene with Boats

Topic: Painting a Calm Sea Scene

Description: Paint a calm sea scene with boats, inspired by a demonstration from a recent workshop. This class will focus on creating serene water scenes with your own artistic interpretation and more color.

Materials: Regular painting supplies.


November 6 - Landscape
Topic: Skies and Land
Description: A continuation of the landscape class. Learn the essentials of painting skies and land, focusing on techniques to create dynamic and atmospheric landscapes.
Materials: Regular painting supplies.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Lola Krummenacher hails from Rexburg, Id., where she attended Ricks College and BYU with a major in elementary education and a minor in art. After graduating, Lola taught school in Issaquah, Washington, while her husband was finishing Army OCS training. They have moved around the country, but when her husband, Jeff, was deployed to Vietnam, she returned to BYU and majored in their art program.

Lola became a juried member of the Northern Arizona Watercolor Society in Sedona, Az., where she received instruction and taught. There she has studied with well-known Arizona, Utah, and National artists.

Jeff and Lola lived in Europe for a year, where she was exposed to many cultures and great art.

Returning to the States, they raised a family of six children, and Lola taught at community colleges and attended classes. Lola and Jeff eventually moved to Moab, where they lived for seven years. There she taught classes in watercolor and stained glass for the City of Moab.

In 2005, they moved to St. George, where she has taught for the Southern Utah Watercolor Society, Hurricane Valley Art Alliance, the Dixie Watercolor Society, DU Exploritas program, Mesquite Gallery, Las Vegas Watercolor Society, "A Passion for Painting", Southern Utah Watercolor Society in Cedar City. She also taught at The Art Factor in St. George. Lola has won many awards in shows and art exhibits throughout Utah and Arizona.

She loves working in all mediums and teaching design which she employs to produce abstracts in Oils and Acrylics.

Her work can be found in ART Provides, Gallery 35 in St. George, and Juniper Sky Gallery in Kayenta.
