ABOUT THE ARTIST
Heather Olsen is an accomplished contemporary realistic oil painter from Salt Lake City, Utah, known for her vibrant and emotionally resonant oil paint compositions. With a focus on capturing the emotions and essence of her subject matter, Heather explores a diverse range of subjects in her work. Her portfolio encompasses figurative and animal art, narrative pieces, landscapes, still life, and more, showcasing her versatility and mastery of various artistic styles. She honed her artistic skills through intensive apprenticeships at the Hein Atelier and the Bridge Academy of Art, and earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Utah.
As an award- winning artist, Heather has exhibited her artwork across the nation in galleries and museums from California to New York City. Her work has been featured in collaborations with the Sundance Film Festival, Intermountain Healthcare, and Utah State Legislature, among others, earning widespread recognition and media coverage. Her achievements extend globally as she successfully competed and won in prestigious competitions worldwide including the renowned Art Battle. Her affiliation with the esteemed art societies, Portrait Society of America and National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society, showcases her dedication and skill in portraiture. In 2022, her painting was nominated as a finalist for the Portrait Society’s Members Only Competition.
Heather's impact extends beyond her personal artistic pursuits. Since 2020, she has been sharing her expertise through art workshops at the Visual Art Institute, Workshop SLC, Sentient Academy, and various community art programs. Her knowledge and passion for art contributes to the development of aspiring artists.
